Elio Bridge is an optional desktop app that lets Elio work with things that live on your computer — files, terminal, Git, Docker, local automations — while you stay in control of every permission.

What it enables

Reading and editing files in folders you allow.
Running shell commands and scripts you permit.
Git and Docker operations on local projects.
Screenshots, clipboard, and local browser automation.
Running local AI models and local MCP servers.

You set the rules

Every capability is opt-in per device: allowed folders, allowed commands, whether shell, screenshots, clipboard, Git, or Docker are permitted at all. Elio’s cloud never accesses your machine directly — the Bridge connects outward and executes only what your policy allows.

Getting started

Download the Bridge for your platform from the Bridge page in the app.
Sign in from the Bridge to pair it with your account.
Review the default permissions and adjust folders and capabilities.
Ask Elio something local: “list the files in my Projects folder”.

Treat shell access like handing over a terminal: enable it only if you’re comfortable, and prefer narrow folder allowlists over broad access.
